Wound Bed Preparation, Exudate Management & Infection Control

XLTA® technology draws exudate, wound devitalized tissue, bacteria and harmful matrix metalloproteinases (MMPS’) into these fibres and dispersing them multidirectional (vertically and horizontally) into the Xlta® wound dressing.

Exudate

XLTA® is a super absorbent dressing and has a large fluid storage capacity that retains exudate and body fluid inside the dressing. (hydrophilic/capillary action), it further prevents the escape of exudate and body fluid, thus preventing maceration, and over granulation.

Bio Burden

Even when bacteria are killed on the wound surface, dead organisms remain as debris and can contribute to biofilm formation, complicating wound healing. XLTA® not only removes bacteria but also clears away debris, preventing the buildup of biofilms that can stall the healing process.

Harmful Proteases

While antibiotics do not affect proteases, XLTA® modulates protease activity (such as MMPs), preventing tissue degradation and enhancing healing. XLTA® promotes autolytic debridement, which removes dead tissue naturally, ensuring a clean wound bed without harsh chemicals or invasive techniques.

Devitalized Tissue

Autolytic debridement is a natural, non-invasive method of removing dead or devitalized tissue from wounds. It uses the body’s own enzymes and moisture to break down necrotic tissue, ensuring clean wound bed preparation. XLTA® supports and accelerates this process, creating the perfect environment for autolytic debridement by regulating moisture and facilitating the natural removal of debris.

XLTA® TRIPLE ACTION

XLTA® is a 2-in-1 triple action wound dressing, featuring a super-absorbent pad sandwiched between two non-adherent, non-stick layers on both sides.

This design creates a single, cohesive structure that can be used as either a primary or secondary dressing, ensuring secure application without sticking to the wound bed. “

NOTE: Do not remove or attempt to remove the nonadherent layers. It was designed with this feature in mind and is a single structure. No additional nonadherent or non-stick layers are required as XLTA® has this feature built in. This has potential for significant savings in nursing time and expense on periphery products.

Capillary Action is the ability to draw wound exudate and wound debris into the dressing against gravity.

Horisontal Dispersion allows the dressing to lift, hold and transfer the wound exudate both vertically and horizontally into the dressing.

Electrostatic Action, the bacteria and MMPs generally are negatively charged, and XLTA® is positively charged attracts the bacteria and MMP’s
